Hungarian competitors achieved a historic success at EuroSkills Herning 2025, Europe’s largest vocational championship, winning four gold, two silver, and five bronze medals. The Hungarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MKIK) announced the results on Saturday evening, highlighting the nation’s strongest performance to date.

Gold medals went to Kornél Stefán in software development, Olivér Mrakovics in web development, the duo of Tamás Simon and Gergő Téringer in IT system administration, and the team of Sándor Császi and Roland Izsó in Industry 4.0. With 795 points, Stefán not only earned gold but also the title of Best of Nation, achieving the highest score of the Hungarian delegation.

This marks the first time Hungarian competitors have swept an entire professional category, with informatics emerging as the dominant field in 2025. The Hungarian team’s additional honours included silver medals for hairstylist Lajos Kovács and the robotics duo of Márk Liszi and Bence János Kápolnás, while bronze went to competitors in mechatronics, floristry, car mechanics, landscaping, and graphic design.

Beyond medals, several Hungarian participants received Excellence Awards for outstanding scores, showcasing the depth of talent across a wide range of professions from painting and plumbing to beauty care and carpentry.

EuroSkills Herning 2025, held for the ninth time, gathered 589 competitors from 32 countries in 38 trades, spanning high-tech industries and traditional crafts alike. Hungary was represented by 26 young professionals across 21 fields under the WorldSkills Hungary programme coordinated by the MKIK.

Organizers emphasized that the results highlight the competitiveness of Hungarian vocational and dual training on a European scale. For participants, the championship was not only a test of skills but also a chance for international experience, networking, and demonstrating commitment to their trades before a broad audience.

The Hungarian team’s achievements were personally witnessed by Minister of Culture and Innovation Balázs Hankó, State Secretary for Vocational Education Veronika Varga-Bajusz, and other high-ranking officials from the MKIK. According to the chamber, supporting young vocational talent is a key national interest, and the results in Herning underscore that Hungarian youth possess the skills, diligence, and knowledge to become driving forces of Europe’s future economy.
