Hungary’s annual Night of Museums cultural event will take place on 20 June, offering thousands of programmes at hundreds of venues nationwide, organizers announced on Wednesday.
According to the organizers, museums, galleries and exhibition spaces across the country will welcome visitors on the shortest night of the year with concerts, guided tours, interactive experiences and family programmes.
This year’s featured city will be Sopron, where participating venues will include the Museum Quarter, the Firewatch Tower, the Lenck Mansion and the Central Mining Museum.
At the Lenck Mansion, visitors will be able to attend astronomy-themed programmes alongside gastronomy events, concerts and costumed guided tours. The Central Mining Museum will host interactive activities, while the Museum Quarter will present permanent exhibitions as well as live baking demonstrations inspired by the 1790s with cooks from the historic Storno kitchen.
The 2026 edition’s central theme, ‘Stories Preserved in Flavours’, will be represented by this year’s ambassador, Zsófia Mautner, a Hungarian gastronomy writer and television presenter.
Hundreds of cultural institutions are expected to participate in the nationwide programme again this year.
The full schedule will be published from 2 June on the event’s official website, where visitors will be able to search for events by location, date and programme type. Organizers noted that some events will require advance registration.
Additional behind-the-scenes content, videos, prize games and programme highlights will also be shared in the coming weeks on the event’s social media channels.
The nationwide event is organized by Hungary’s Ministry Responsible for Social Relations and Culture.
