The Food of Hungary 2024 competition is being organized for the seventh time; the final will be held on 27 April at the Szolnok Campus of the University of Debrecen. The aim of the competition is to promote the diversity and richness of Hungarian gastronomy through culinary wonders and to strengthen national cohesion.

Gábor Nagy, winner of international awards, started to grow chili peppers twelve years ago for fun, prompted by a habanero. An interview about re-learning the concept of hot.

The MagosVölgy Ecological Farm in Terény, Nógrád County, produces
gorgeous vegetables from February to December for the 500-strong community around it.

During the filming, the twenty stars and the 200-member crew managed all hospitality-related tasks independently over twenty-one days, from sourcing ingredients to preparing dishes and serving. This allowed Chinese fans travelling to Hungary encounter their favourites while shopping for food.

‘Places that present imported ideas instead of independent cultural achievements, fish and champagne from far away instead of their own produce, and have a tourist industry instead of hospitality, will inevitably fall behind.’
