This year, Budapest Park is gearing up with numerous enhancements and concerts by international stars as its 13th season kicks off on Thursday with a concert by Blahalouisiana.

‘We aim to surpass last year’s record; in 2023, nearly 700,000 visitors attended our events. This year, our focus is on the afterparty period, when revellers can experience unprecedented visual elements after the concerts.

Our goal is world-class entertainment,’

founder and CEO András Pálffy said at Tuesday’s press briefing. He pointed out that the opening of Budapest Park is preceded every year by an eight-to-ten-month planning period. The construction of the venue takes three months, involving hundreds of workers.

Architect and Art Director Imre Rimóczi spoke about the significant transformation of the venue’s appearance, with numerous LEDs and other visual elements added, saying: ‘The popular producer, Hundred Sins, composed an intro music for us, and every night’s afterparty will start with this, accompanied by a marvellous light show powered by hundreds of lamps and kilometres of LED.’ The design of this year’s Budapest Park visuals involved collaboration with the team working on the Inota Festival and the Lightdome. Rimóczi mentioned that this year’s standout feature of the Park is the two massive light heads placed above the main entrance, previously featured at the Ozora Festival and now arriving from the Amsterdam Light Festival. ‘Viktor Vicsek created the heads, visible even during the day, with programmed LED visuals outlining facial features. The popular hill section of the Park received a bluish design, with structures reminiscent of northern lights supported by wire mesh stretched among the trees,’ Rimóczi said.

Several Hungarian performers for the season were present at the press briefing. Tamás Horváth highlighted that on 17 May, he will perform for the ninth time at Budapest Park. Guitarist of Margaret Island Bálint Füstös spoke about the band’s best-of performance on their tenth birthday concert on 12 September. Guitarist of Blahalouisiana András Szajkó, who will perform at the opening party on 25 April, explained that the band will introduce their new album.

Actress Adél Jordán added: ‘On 23 May, we will perform for the second time at the Budapest Park with the Csinibaba Dance Festival of the Katona József Theatre. We will present hits and dance songs from the 1960s, all in period costumes, and we would be delighted if the audience also dressed accordingly.’

The closing concert of the year will be by the 33-year-old band, Quimby on 27 September.
