Famed American political commentator and YouTuber Dave Rubin was one of the featured speakers at CPAC Hungary 2025 in Budapest, Hungary, this May. After his appearance, he also recorded an episode of his talk show The Rubin Report in front of a live audience at the Danube Institute.
Now, Rubin has released a short, 30-minute documentary about his recent stay in Hungary. It is titled Debunking the Many Myths of Hungary.
This was the protagonist’s second visit to Budapest. He first came to the city in May 2023, when he also held an event at the Danube Institute.
The short film about his most recent visit starts with Rubin describing Hungary as: ‘Out of all of the countries in all of Europe…Hungary, to me, is the strongest. I think some of the other Eastern and Central European nations are doing just fine. But Hungary is really, I would say, the main bulwark against the craziness. Western Europe is largely screwed-up.’
As the coming parts of the documentary attest, by ‘craziness’, Rubin is mostly referring to the immigration policies and the woke agenda of Western European nations. He goes on to talk about the €1 million fine the EU imposes on Hungary every day for failing to comply with the migrant quotas outlined in the EU Migrant Pact of 2024.
‘Just to control their own borders and decide who can be in Hungary and who cannot, the EU fines them [the Hungarian government] €1 million a day. They are willing to do it because they get other benefits by being part of the EU, but it’s a really bizarre “hostage situation”. And that was really the backdrop of much of what was discussed at CPAC,’ Rubin said on the matter.
Still related to the topic of migration, he also pointed out that when he was in London, United Kingdom, people warned him not to have his cell phone in his hand while walking home late after a night out in order to avoid attracting muggers. However, in Hungary, he had no such concerns.
Rubin also gave a brief synopsis of his speech at CPAC Hungary 2025. In the video, he says:
‘When I gave my talk, what I was trying to focus on was how you deal with a media that is lying about you the entire time. So, if you’re the good guy in the story, and you’re the one saying: “Hey, I just want to defend my family, these are the values we believe in, this is our country, we just don’t want everyone taking all that away from us,” and the media is calling you the bad guy the entire time, how do you deal with that?’
After his appearance at CPAC Hungary, Dave Rubin joined a small group of other speakers who visited Prime Minister Viktor Orbán of Hungary at his office in the Carmelite Monastery of Buda. This actually made him a little late for his show at the Danube Institute, which was held at the Lónyai-Hatvany Villa just across the street. This light-hearted misadventure is also captured in the documentary, with footage of Rubin running with his tie flapping in the wind from one building to another.

Debunking the Many Myths of Hungary
Dave Rubin of "The Rubin Report" discusses his experiences and observations in Hungary, highlighting it as a stronghold against what he perceives as the decline of Western Europe; why Hungary should be praised for its cultural preservation and national pride; how it is fighting to maintain its sovereignty and cultural identity amidst pressures from the European Union; how CPAC emphasized the country's alignment with specific American goals of border control and national identity; the media's inaccurate portrayal of Hungary; and much more.
