Harry Potter author JK Rowling gave tribute to the recently passed away country music star Dolly Parton—just to have a pro-trans activist turn it into an attack on her.

American country music legend Dolly Parton passed away on Tuesday, 25 August at age 80. She was one of the universally beloved figures of the entertainment world, best known for her hit singles ‘Jolene’ (1973), ‘I Will Always Love You’ (1974), and the duet with Kenny Rogers, ‘Islands in the Stream’ (1980). She also had a considerable acting career in films, such as the 1980 comedy 9 to 5.

Harry Potter author J K Rowling was among the many who paid tribute to the late diva (along with US President Donald Trump).

However, since Rowling has been an outspoken critic of the transgender movement for many years, some people felt the need to even take this opportunity to take a jab at her.

In her original post, Rowling praised Parton’s ‘Imagination Library’, a free book-gifting programme started in 1995. However, one of the users in the replies still attacked her, simply stating ‘it should have been you,’ referring to the death of the country star.

J.K. Rowling on X (formerly Twitter): “Top tips for wishing death on people in public, @b4byfirefly. Blocking the target is useless if you’ve signposted your real name and university in your bio😘 pic.twitter.com/fHVSTiRLJ0 / X”

The person highlighted by Rowling has her preferred pronouns listed on her Instagram profile, so it is safe to assume where she stands on the issue of transgenderism.

The Harry Potter author decided to put the person on blast in front of her over 13 million followers on X, also pointing out that she had listed her real name and the name of her university in her bio. Those details have since been removed. Only the user’s supposed location—Brooklyn in New York City, New York—is visible to the public at the moment.
