15 Hungarian schools have received a total of 220 refurbished laptops designed for digital education from the 4iG Foundation for a Digital Society, the organization announced on Monday. According to the statement, the donation provides thousands of students with new opportunities to advance their skills, implement digital projects, and integrate modern technology into classroom work, talent development, and community activities.

The Digital Opportunity Programme attracted 224 valid applications from schools in every region of the country. Professional evaluators selected 15 institutions whose work stood out through commitment, creativity and forward-looking pedagogical approaches.

Applications focused on three main areas: improving the use of digital tools during lessons, launching programming and coding clubs, and supporting community or student-led initiatives. The high level of interest, the foundation said, highlighted the strong demand for up-to-date digital equipment in Hungarian schools, as well as an increasing willingness among teachers to renew teaching methods.

More and more educators are either open to or experienced in digital instruction, coding education, and innovative talent-development methods. Submitted projects ranged from special-needs education approaches and the integration of artificial intelligence into teaching to flipped-classroom models and 3D modelling in vocational training.

Among the winners were several extracurricular clubs that had previously achieved competition results but struggled with a lack of equipment. The laptops will support projects such as a digital eco-challenge, a flipped-classroom initiative, and preparation for programming world championships.

Beyond the devices, the programme also provides methodological support. Teachers from the selected institutions will take part in a 30-hour, practice-based e-learning training course.

Gellért Jászai, chairman of the 4iG Foundation’s board, said he is convinced that the devices, combined with the educational programme, will offer tangible benefits to both students and teachers in digital learning. Áron Szilágyi, three-time Olympic sabre champion and the programme’s patron, noted that timely opportunities can be life-changing. ‘Not everyone starts with the same chances, but a good teacher and a good tool can shape lives,’ he said.

According to the foundation, the 4iG Group aims to deliver more tools and opportunities to even more schools, teachers and students, strengthening digital education nationwide.
