The 31st Sziget Festival kicks off with higher ticket sales than last year, more Hungarian visitors, and headliners like Charli XCX, Shawn Mendes, and Post Malone. Organizers promise a refreshed layout and hundreds of performances from around the world.

The 31st edition of Sziget Festival is set to draw significantly more Hungarian visitors among both pass holders and day-ticket guests, with the largest foreign contingent arriving from the Netherlands, followed closely by neighbouring countries, according to chief organizer Tamás Kádár.

Ticket sales have already surpassed last year’s figures, reversing the decline seen since 2022. Based on pre-sales, Wednesday’s show with Charli XCX, Thursday’s with Shawn Mendes, and Sunday’s Post Malone performance on the Main Stage could sell out.

Although the official programme begins Wednesday, thousands had already settled in by Monday evening. Alongside the major headliners, Main Stage performances will include Kid Cudi, Chappell Roan, Anyma, The Kooks, Nelly Furtado, FKA Twigs, Kiss of Life, and Hungarian acts such as Pogány Induló and Deva. The Revolut Stage will host Empire of the Sun, Justice, Papa Roach, Caribou, and Brutalismus 3000.

Addressing the recent ban of Irish band Kneecap from Hungary, Kádár called it ‘a very bad precedent’ but does not expect it to impact the festival.

This year’s Sziget features a redesigned layout with entirely new positioning for stages and attractions. Visitors will be greeted at the K-Bridge by giant colourful bird installations. Spread over 76 hectares, the festival will offer over 50 venues and nearly 1,000 events from Wednesday to Monday, with around 550 music and art performances from 55 countries.

Highlights include themed zones such as the new Delta District for electronic music, the Szoho quarter for hip-hop, rap, and emerging acts, the Paradox area blending circus arts and immersive shows, and the North Field with creative installations like ArtGarden. The Sziget Beach returns in a woodland setting due to high water levels in the Danube.

Food lovers can explore ten food courts serving everything from traditional Hungarian dishes to global cuisine, while beer prices remain unchanged from last year.
