5,500 photographers, amateurs and professionals alike, submitted a total of 44,000 images to this year's Hungary 365 photo contest, more than ever before. Winners will be awarded in five different categories this year.

A total of 44,000 images, more than ever before, have been submitted by photographers, both professional and amateur, to the Hungary 365 photo contest. Csaba Dömötör, MP and State Secretary in the Prime Minister’s office for the governing Fidesz party talked about the good news in a video posted to his Facebook page.

‘This Hungary’s biggest photo contest, with the stated purpose of showcasing our nation’s pride…Renowned photographers will be serving as judges, who have already started the adjudication process. We’ll update you about the results soon,’ MP Dömötör said in his video.

The record-high 44,000 submissions came from 5,500 different contestants.

Submissions were solicited by organizers in five categories: nature, landscape, architecture, portrait and communal experiences, and street photo. The submission deadline ended on 23 October. Only photos taken after 19 October 2022 were eligible. The top three finishers in each category, selected by a seven-member judge panel, will be awarded prize money: 2 million HUF (about €5,200) for the first-place, 1 million HUF (€2,600) for the second-place, and 500,000 HUF (€1,300) for the third-place finishers, respectively. In addition, a judges’ special award will also be given out to one talented contestant, which carries another 2 million HUF prize.

The Hungary 365 photo contest was first announced in 2019. Last year, Csaba Daróczi pulled off the impressive feat of winning in two different categories, in the nature and landscape (which was a joint contest then), and in the architecture category as well.
