The University of Pécs will open its doors to science enthusiasts on 26 September with nearly 250 programmes as part of Researchers’ Night, a Europe-wide celebration of science. Visitors can expect spectacular experiments, interactive sessions, and a rare glimpse into normally closed research facilities.

The annual event, traditionally held on the last weekend of September, highlights the diversity of research careers and shows how deeply science is woven into everyday life. This year’s programme places special emphasis on artificial intelligence, alongside a broad range of disciplines.

The university will host more than 250 free events across over ten locations. Through playful and experience-based methods, researchers will showcase their daily work and aim to inspire young people to pursue scientific careers.

The programme covers topics from medicine and sports to economics, soil science, and beyond. The Faculty of Medicine will offer interactive biology sessions, posture and body composition analyses, and practical demonstrations in medical and pharmaceutical sciences. Visitors can also learn about the effects of dietary fats, turmeric’s potential role in Parkinson’s treatment, and the risks of substances such as marijuana, synthetic drugs, and CBD oil.

Other highlights include insights into the secrets of trauma surgery, negotiation skills at the Faculty of Law, forensic case studies, African research projects at the Faculty of Humanities, and hands-on experiments with human-machine interfaces and simulators at the Faculty of Engineering. The Faculty of Science will explore dinosaurs, biological warfare, and forensic soil analysis, while the Szentágothai Research Centre will present virus-hunting in Bangladesh and cutting-edge medical applications of light. The university’s viticulture and oenology research centre will combine expert wine tastings with microscopic analysis.

Participation is free, though some sessions require prior registration. The full programme and registration details are available at https://kutatokejszakaja.pte.hu/.
