Angelina Jolie, the Oscar-winning and three-time Golden Globe-winning American actress is moving to the Hungarian capital for the filming of a movie about the life of Maria Callas. While international media has focused on her primarily due to her divorce from Brad Pitt in recent years, she is once again in the spotlight.
Angelina Jolie last visited Hungary in 2010 when she directed her first film, In the Land of Blood and Honey. After 13 years, she is returning to Budapest to shoot a film about the world-renowned opera singer Maria Callas. Since one of the world’s most beautiful opera houses is located in Budapest, the location is perfect for depicting the singer’s successes on stage.
The main theme of the film will be the portrayal of the last few years of the singer’s life when Callas lived in Paris, retired from the spotlight. According to information from the Hungarian tabloid Blikk,
scenes from Callas’s active years will also likely be filmed at the Opera House, as there are 15 days in the upcoming months when there are no scheduled performances.
Meanwhile, the news site Index reports that Jolie will only be accompanied by her youngest children in the Hungarian capital: 17-year-old Shiloh and 15-year-old twins Vivienne and Knox. It appears that she wants to live in a quiet private house during the months spent here, thus safeguarding her and her children’s privacy.
