The Mathias Corvinus Collegium (MCC) Leadership Academy is inviting applicants for its one-year intensive programme, set to begin this autumn. The deadline for applications is 30 April. The unique training is aimed at fresh graduates or final-year students under the age of 28 who possess fluent English language skills and are highly motivated.

Participants of the programme will have the opportunity to learn the fundamentals and various aspects of modern leadership from top national and international experts. MCC, with its more than 7300 students, continues to offer training opportunities even after obtaining a diploma. As the concluding element of the institution’s talent development structure, the Leadership Academy provides young graduates with serious ambitions with a unique, tuition-free training opportunity not available elsewhere. Through the programme, participants can acquire knowledge that will give them a competitive advantage, enabling them to better position themselves in the workplace and become effective leaders in the future. The aim of the training is to provide Hungary with a competent leadership pipeline, well-versed in both the country and the world, with realistic self-perception, advanced competencies, and decision-making abilities.

The one-year programme starting in autumn begins with intensive preparation, focusing on imparting basic competencies and knowledge, followed by a six-month period during which students gain deeper insights into the essence of leadership. During this time, courses, trainings, corporate organizational visits, related project tasks, exclusive discussions, study trips, and community programmes alternate. The aim of the training is not only for students to learn in classrooms from instructors but also to learn outside of them, from each other, and to gain practical experience in the market. To this end, students of the Leadership Academy, during week-long organizational visits, can get to know various companies operating in different industries in both the public and private sectors, as well as their operational environments and methods. As part of the professional programmes, they have the opportunity to meet directly with senior and middle managers and conduct professional discussions. Throughout the entire training, they can gain personal experience from over a hundred organizations, while training, coaching, supervision, and consultations support their individual, personalized development.

As an important element of the Leadership Academy, the Leadership Training Club brings together prominent figures from public life and the corporate world. At these events, students can engage in discussions with invited leaders in small groups, who can directly share their knowledge and experiences. Among the notable guests of the Leadership Academy in recent times have been, among others, Bálint Lévai, CEO of the Hungarian family business BioTechUSA; Róbert Ésik, CEO of the Hungarian Investment Promotion Agency (HIPA); József Béres, President of Béres Pharmaceutical Factory Ltd; Nikos Zois, CEO of Heineken Hungary Breweries Ltd; Alexandra Szentkirályi, former deputy mayor of Budapest, government spokesperson; Kristóf Péter Bakai, Brigadier General of the National Tax and Customs Administration (NAV); István Stumpf, constitutional lawyer, former Constitutional Court justice and former minister; Kata Dobó, actress and director; Károly Eperjes, Hungarian actor and director; and Dénes Kemény, water polo player and three-time Olympic champion head coach, who shared their leadership and life experiences through inspiring discussions.

During study trips, students of the Leadership Academy spend more than fifty days in Hungary, the Carpathian Basin, Europe, and overseas. Within the framework of professional programmes, discussions with decision-makers, leaders, mayors, officials, and consultants greatly support students’ worldviews and attitudes. In the current academic year, students have visited Romania, Belgium, as well as the United States, South Africa, and Asia.

After applying, applicants can demonstrate their professional aptitude and motivation through a multi-round admission process. After completing tests (intelligence and reading comprehension, writing), and the oral round, the best-performing applicants participate in an assessment session, where personal competencies are also evaluated. The MCC-supported tuition-free training provides scholarships and dormitory places for all its students.
