According to the applications for the CSOK Plus submitted in the first two months of the year, two-thirds of the couples requesting the loan are childless. This shows that couples have been encouraged to dare to start a family.

February saw nearly two thousand families applying for the CSOK Plus, Ágnes Hornung, State Secretary for Families at the Ministry of Culture and Innovation said on Thursday on public M1 news television.

Ágnes Hornung emphasized that the dynamics of the applications are similar to those of the CSOK introduced in 2015. She called this great news because it means that 240,000 families have utilized the CSOK throughout its entire ‘lifetime’.

According to the applications for the CSOK Plus submitted in the first two months of the year two-thirds of the couples are childless, she announced. As she said, this shows that

couples have been ‘encouraged to dare to have children’.

In her opinion, the fact that over fifty per cent of couples plan to have two or more children also indicates an increase in the willingness to start a family.

Hornung emphasized that the CSOK Plus can be applied for with the birth of a new child, and the supported loan is awarded based on the number of children the family will have. She added that depending on whether families choose to have one, two, or three children, they can apply for a loan of 15, 30, or 50 million Hungarian forints with a fixed 3 per cent state-supported interest rate.

The average loan amount disbursed is 26 million forints, she said, noting that this also indicates that families are choosing to have more children. She stated that the loan amount is a significant help for families in home-building, both in the capital and especially in the countryside.

Hornung also highlighted that

the CSOK Plus can also be used for purchasing or expanding used homes as well,

and more than 85 per cent of families have taken advantage of this opportunity.

The State Secretary mentioned that after the introduction of the CSOK Plus, there has been intense interest in mortgage lending and the real estate market, which is confirmed by both banks and market players.

Ágnes Hornung also added on public Kossuth radio that in half of the applying couples the mother is under 30 years old, and that one-fifth of families have taken out market loans alongside the CSOK Plus.
