The alleged GTA 6 leak campaign has entered its sixth consecutive day, with a ninth gameplay video released online despite legal action by Rockstar Games parent company Take-Two Interactive.
The latest video, released by the person or group using the ‘CyberLeek’ persona, shows protagonist Jason driving to a gas station, where he causes havoc and steals a pickup truck from a conspiracy theorist. The footage ends with another brief glimpse of a cutscene that also appeared in gameplay videos leaked the previous day.
As with the other leaked footage, the video promotes the ‘CyberLeek’ cryptocurrency token, which is widely believed to be at the centre of the motivation behind the leak campaign.
The latest footage also contains a new watermark promoting an anti-digital future message. It claims that consumers are being deprived of the right to resell digital products and calls for people to ‘fight now or never.’
Take-Two has now issued a subpoena to X seeking information that could help identify the people behind three accounts containing the word ‘CyberLeak’ in their names. The move follows subpoenas filed earlier this week targeting Microsoft and Discord.
The latest videos are the seventh, eighth and ninth pieces of GTA 6 gameplay footage to emerge in a week. Earlier releases included footage of supercar gameplay, an armed robbery and a strip club, as well as another cutscene in which a character refers to ‘a leak.’
The appearance of multiple cutscenes has raised concerns that the leaker or leakers may have access to a development build of GTA 6, potentially allowing them to publish more substantial story spoilers.
Take-Two filed Digital Millennium Copyright Act subpoenas in federal court on 20 August seeking information from Microsoft and Discord. The company is seeking identifying information associated with accounts connected to several Discord servers, including one linked to Australian GTA content creator Matthew ‘Matt’ Judge, also known as DarkViperAU. Judge has denied any wrongdoing.
Take-Two also issued GitHub with a DMCA takedown notice on 19 August, demanding that a repository containing allegedly stolen GTA 6 material be disabled.
A federal court in the Southern District of New York granted the Microsoft subpoena on 21 August. Xbox Chief Technology Officer Scott Van Vliet said Microsoft was working with Take-Two and Rockstar to help protect creative works and intellectual property.
Discord said it reviews and complies with valid subpoenas as part of its standard procedures.
Rockstar and Take-Two have not publicly commented on the latest leaks. Bloomberg has reported that Rockstar still does not know how the material was obtained or who is responsible, while frustration over the situation has reportedly grown internally.
The leaks have not affected plans for the upcoming official GTA 6 presentation. Netflix is scheduled to premiere Grand Theft Auto 6: An Extended Look on 27 August, with the programme remaining exclusive to the streaming service for six hours before being released on other platforms.
Grand Theft Auto 6 is scheduled for release on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S on 19 November 19, 2026.
