The Hungarian government will launch a new housing support scheme for public sector employees, providing them with an annual subsidy of 1 million forints, Parliamentary State Secretary Balázs Hidvéghi announced Monday in a video posted on the government’s official Facebook page.
The programme will benefit doctors, nurses, police officers, teachers, soldiers, and all other public service employees without whom the country could not function, Hidvéghi said. He emphasized that the initiative reflects the government’s appreciation for those who serve the community in their daily work.

The state secretary highlighted that the government remains committed to helping more Hungarian families achieve home ownership. The new measure complements existing programmes such as the CSOK Plus family housing scheme and the fixed 3 per cent mortgage loan.
According to Hidvéghi, the new annual subsidy can be used in two ways: either to repay an existing mortgage or as part of the down payment for a new home loan. If both spouses or partners work in public service, each may apply for the support individually.
The programme is set to begin on 1 January 2026, and further details will be available through employers.
‘This support is our way of saying thank you to those who dedicate their profession to serving the community every day,’ Hidvéghi concluded.
