On 11 September, Budapest will host the Connexions – CEE Deep Tech Summit, a major international conference dedicated to the latest developments in space technology, biotechnology, medical technology, and cybersecurity. The event, organized by the National Innovation Agency (NIÜ) at the Bálna Defence Centre, will place deep tech in the spotlight.
The summit aims to strengthen the global visibility of Hungary’s and the Central and Eastern European region’s deep tech ecosystem, contributing to the growth of a knowledge-based, competitive economy. As a flagship event of the Hungarian Innovation Week, it will be held for the first time and bring together leading figures from the deep tech world, including international investors, researchers, technology transfer experts, startup founders, and policymakers.
Key topics will include life sciences such as biotech and medtech, space technology, and defence and cyber security, sectors seen as pivotal to technological and economic progress in the coming years. Participants will engage in lectures and panel discussions with prominent speakers such as Deputy Global Editorial Director at Wired Greg Williams, CEO of Hello Tomorrow Cecilia des Courtis; Director of Technology Transfer at the University of Hong Kong Paul Wang; co-founder of xAI Christian Szegedy; Head of Innovation at Germany’s CyberAgentur Julian Laufs; Linda Voeras, investment professional at Estonia’s Karma Ventures; and founder and CEO of Turbine Szabolcs Nagy.
‘Connexions is…a space where the region’s deep tech players can make their voices heard’
Organizers emphasized that Connexions is not only a platform for networking and knowledge exchange, but also a space where the region’s deep tech players can make their voices heard internationally and forge alliances for a more sustainable and innovative future.
The Connexions – CEE Deep Tech Summit will be the main highlight of Hungarian Innovation Week, which runs from 10–19 September and brings together innovation-focused events across Hungary. The overarching initiative aims to strengthen Hungary’s innovation ecosystem and expand its presence on the global stage.
