In an interview with public Kossuth radio, Deutsch contended that the Hungarian ‘dollar left’ actively participates Brussels’ illegitimate, coercive behaviour. He referenced former Socialist Prime Minister Ferenc Gyurcsány, who admitted over a year ago in a radio interview that he had supplied fabricated arguments for political blackmail to the Brussels bureaucracy, which served as the basis for initiating legal proceedings against Hungary.

Radical changes are needed in Brussels: those bureaucrats who use their positions of power solely to exert pressure on countries that shape their European policies in a sovereign manner, representing their national interests, need to be removed, Fidesz MEP Tamás Deutsch said on public Kossuth Radio on Sunday.

Tamás Deutsch emphasized the necessity for fundamental changes within the ranks of Hungarian MEPs, asserting that the eight Hungarian MEPs aligned with the ‘dollar left’ have consistently sided with Brussels in every instance where ‘the bureaucracy attacked the Hungarians.’ He stated that EU representatives should use their mandates received from Hungarian citizens to advocate for Hungarian interests, even if it entails embracing conflicts in Brussels.

The politician also addressed the issue of the European Union funds allocated to Hungary, acknowledging the positive news of a substantial amount arriving in the country. He recalled that the funds due to Hungary have been unlawfully withheld for years. He stressed the need to firmly confront the political blackmail of the Brussels bureaucracy until every euro designated for Hungary in the current budgetary period is transferred.

Deutsch contended that the Hungarian ‘dollar left,’ that he also referred to as the Soros network, actively participates in this illegitimate, coercive Brussels behaviour. He referenced former Socialist Prime Minister Ferenc Gyurcsány, who admitted over a year ago in a radio interview that he had supplied fabricated arguments for political blackmail to the Brussels bureaucracy, which served as the basis for initiating legal proceedings against Hungary.

The MEP argued that the political strategy of the Brussels bureaucracy, aligned with the interests and power ambitions of the Hungarian ‘dollar left’, has failed. Their aim was to make sure that Hungary receives no EU funding, forcing it to its knees. However, Hungary ultimately secured significant EU funds, and

attempts to alter its positions on illegal migration and child protection and as well as its pro-peace stance regarding the Ukrainian conflict proved unsuccessful.

Deutsch highlighted that the ‘Soros network,’ in full battle array against Hungary, launched a powerful attack at the end of December, and added that a renewed assault can be expected during the upcoming plenary session of the European Parliament, with the usual suspects will formulate well-known slanders.

The politician drew attention to an initiative by Katarina Barley, Vice President of the European Parliament, which calls for the launching of an Article 7 procedure, that might result in depriving Hungary of its voting rights. This contrasts with the December assessment by the European Commission that Hungary had implemented all proposed modifications, making it eligible for EU funds, Deutsch reminded.

The MEP concluded by highlighting the irony of these events occurring while Warsaw, under a new government, blatantly tramples on the fundamental principles and rules of the rule of law. The European Parliament remains silent on this matter while attempting to unjustly cast Hungary in a negative light once again, he stressed.

In the context of future developments, he mentioned the possibility of Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán temporarily assuming the presidency of the European Council if Charles Michel, the current president, runs for and secures a mandate in the upcoming European Parliament elections.
