Prime Minister Viktor Orbán stated that Hungary’s opponents aim to exploit the crisis caused by the war to push the country back to the Gyurcsány era when foreign powers decided Hungary’s fate. He emphasized that this year will be about attempts to force Hungary to its knees, with adversaries seeking to take away the country’s sovereignty, as reported by the Hungarian daily Magyar Nemzet’s online platform on Wednesday evening.
According to the publication, during a closed meeting of the Fidesz-KDNP parliamentary group in Esztergom, Viktor Orbán identified these challenges for the upcoming year.
Orbán began his speech by asserting:
‘This year has enormous amounts at stake because the Soros empire, in collaboration with the governing American Democrats, is launching an attack on right-wing media and enthusiastic national parties in many European countries, portraying themselves as Goliaths.
In America, his enemies are trying to send Donald Trump to prison, so he won’t threaten the power of Soros and the Democrats. The globalists need the European Commission and the U.S. president,
and on their way to achieving that, Hungary is a thorn in their side,’ the PM evaluated Hungary’s situation.
Orbán stated that the reason for this is that ‘Hungary is currently the freest country in Europe.’ He continued by saying that here, there is a border fence, there is no immigration, but we have family policy instead. Gender ideology is not taught in schools, no arms are being delivered to Ukraine, and Hungary does not want to get involved in the war.
‘Today, as Hungarians, we can decide our fate without external influence. That’s why they want to silence us, and this year, they will try to break us. However, we will not allow this’, he enumerated the current perils facing the country.
PM Orbán went on to explain that Hungary’s opponents are the people we need to protect Hungarian sovereignty from. He identified them as the Soros empire, the Brussels bureaucracy, and their allies. ‘They are the ones who will attack our economic sovereignty, aim to eliminate our cultural sovereignty, and take away our political sovereignty,’ he continued, explaining in detail what this means in practice.
‘They attack our economic sovereignty when they want to abolish utility cost reductions, when they protect multinational companies so they can freely raise prices to squeeze profits out of the people. They want to take away our regulatory tools we use to protect families. And, as if that wasn’t enough, they want to introduce genetically modified grain into the Hungarian market as well, and tell us where to buy energy and for how much,’ the PM elaborated.
‘They want to eliminate our cultural sovereignty by forcibly settling migrants in Hungary, even creating the largest migrant ghettos in Europe here. They want to impose their gender ideology onto us, and they even want to tell us how our universities should operate and what they can teach, excluding Hungarian students from common European scholarship programmes that could help them achieve their goals,’ he added.
‘They want to take away our political sovereignty when they blatantly withhold the funds owed to Hungary, thus violating our rights, while also trying to force us to pay Ukraine.
Furthermore, they would admit Ukraine to the European Union without meeting any of the requirements the other Member States had to meet. Finally, they are influencing the Hungarian public sphere without restraint by using money from abroad. Of course, this wouldn’t matter if those funds were provided for students, teachers, or hospitals; but they are paid to the Dollar Left, Dollar Media, and Dollar NGOs.’, PM Orbán stated.
In his speech, the Prime Minister emphasized that we need to take up the challenge in every single area and not allow anyone to infringe on Hungary’s decision-making freedom. To achieve this, PM Orbán believes that Hungarian families must stand alongside them.
‘The fight for Hungarian freedom will not be decided in Brussels or America only, but also here in Hungary, in our municipalities—the global elite’s supporters are not only present in the Brussels elite or among American Democrats, but also in some Hungarian municipalities.
Consider, for example, the out-of-control Budapest, where congestion, filth, and chaos prevail. There are also pseudo-civil organizations and local media outlets claiming to be independent, which have emerged out of nowhere, and aim to stir up tension and threaten national-minded local governments. These are all financed from abroad through Brussels or the Soros network, creating strongholds where national forces hold power’, he opined.
Orbán concluded his speech by stating that the stakes of the 2024 European Parliament and local municipal elections are one and the same: the preservation of Hungary’s sovereignty. Based on shared values, we must win in 2024, both at home and in Europe, not for ourselves but for the country, the PM said in Esztergom, as reported by the news outlet.
