Revolut UAB is now officially listed in the records of the Hungarian National Bank (MNB), signalling a major step toward offering full domestic banking services in Hungary. The fintech company has previously indicated that Hungarian customers may receive local HU IBAN accounts by the end of the year—and the latest developments suggest this goal is within reach.
According to the MNB entry, Revolut received all necessary authorizations to establish its Hungarian branch on 23 October 2025. The company has also updated its online Help Centre, confirming that Hungarian banking services, including local accounts, are coming soon.

Until now, Hungarian Revolut users have been assigned Lithuanian IBAN numbers for their forint balances. While these are valid bank accounts, they are not considered domestic Hungarian account numbers, meaning local HUF transfers from Hungarian banks cannot always be executed directly. Instead, international transfers are required, typically slower, less convenient, and potentially costing thousands of forints in fees.
With a domestic account number, these barriers would disappear, allowing users to receive salaries and make everyday transfers more easily and affordably.
Revolut also addressed recent concerns about frozen accounts and delayed transactions. The company emphasized that such restrictions stem from legal compliance, not technical errors. All transactions are screened under EU, UK, US, and UN sanctions regulations. Revolut stated it is obligated to halt any payments connected directly or indirectly to sanctioned individuals, companies, or regions, including sectors in Russia and jurisdictions such as Iran, Cuba, North Korea, Syria, and parts of Ukraine, including Crimea, Donetsk, Luhansk, Kherson, and Zaporizhzhia.
