The gradual resumption of news services has commenced on the M1 television channel, public radio stations, and various digital platforms, according to an announcement from the Duna Media Service and the MTVA Press Department on Saturday evening. This phased restart follows the temporary suspension of operations on 7 July.
As of 11 July, a new integrated structure is being progressively introduced across a significant portion of the radio portfolio and television platforms. The stated goal of this restructuring is to ensure the public receives credible, fact-based, objective, and impartial information.
This revival is intrinsically linked to the implementation of new ‘News Service Principles’, which were issued by CEO András Horváth concurrently with the initial operational pause. The gradual rollout of this new framework ensures that each service restarts in accordance with these professional guidelines and under appropriate organizational and operational conditions.
In terms of radio programming, the schedules for Kossuth Radio and Bartók Radio have been adjusted. The announcement noted a significant change starting 11 July: news broadcasts will now be featured on Bartók Radio, and these blocks will also be accessible on the Kossuth Radio frequency, ensuring listeners continue to receive updates.
Regarding television, a partial restart of the M1 news service is underway, coinciding with the radio relaunch. Key information is currently being disseminated via a text ticker at the bottom of the screen. Live studio programmes, as well as public affairs and political background shows, are scheduled to resume in the next phase of the transformation.
Meanwhile, news services for the music and online stations—including Petőfi Radio, Dankó Radio, Nationalities Radio, and National Sport Radio—have returned to their usual schedules and formats across their digital platforms. The interim management of public media is methodically rebuilding the new news structure to meet the professional standards of public service broadcasting.
