Chinese automaker BYD will expand its retail and service network in Hungary with five new dealerships opening in late 2025, strengthening its presence beyond Budapest and offering its full range of electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles nationwide.

BYD, the Chinese electric vehicle manufacturer, is set to open five new car dealerships in Hungary in the fourth quarter of 2025. The new locations will be in Debrecen, Kecskemét, Nyíregyháza, Székesfehérvár and Budapest’s 13th district, the company’s Hungarian branch announced on Thursday.

The Budapest dealership will be operated by Pappas Auto, Debrecen’s by AutoWallis, Kecskemét and Nyíregyháza by JP Auto, and Székesfehérvár by Autócentrum Szabó. Each showroom will feature BYD’s complete model range.

This move follows the successful openings of several dealerships in the first half of 2025 and reflects BYD’s commitment to building its customer base beyond the capital. Currently, BYD vehicles are available in Budapest, Győr, Pécs and Szeged.

Founded in 2003, BYD Auto is the automotive subsidiary of multinational high-tech group BYD, specializing in purely electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles. The brand entered the Hungarian market in October 2023 and has since experienced steady growth. BYD is currently building a multi-billion-euro manufacturing facility in Szeged and has announced plans to establish its European corporate and development headquarters in Budapest.

‘AutoWallis, one of BYD’s Hungarian partners, confirmed it will operate the new dealership in Debrecen’

AutoWallis, one of BYD’s Hungarian partners, confirmed it will operate the new dealership in Debrecen, further deepening its cooperation with the world’s leading producer of new energy vehicles. The 400-square-metre BYD retail and service centre will include both a showroom and a service workshop. The project aligns with AutoWallis’s growth strategy, which focuses on business development alongside organic expansion and acquisitions.

The company first introduced BYD to Budapest in 2023, followed by a sales point in Győr earlier this year. AutoWallis is a major integrated automotive retail and mobility service provider in Central and Eastern Europe, active in 17 countries across the region, offering vehicle and parts sales, servicing, and both short- and long-term rentals.
