A dozen popular American brands have expressed interest in doing business in Hungary. Representatives of Velvet Taco, Barberitos, Olive Garden, Pizza Inn, and others will visit Budapest on 16 September to meet potential partners and present their expansion plans, the US Embassy in Budapest announced.

‘In cooperation with the Hungarian Franchise Association and the Budapest Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the US Commercial Service is organizing an exclusive seminar to showcase the most successful and high-potential American franchise brands that are ready to enter the Hungarian market,’ the embassy wrote on its website.

As part of their European tour, the US brands will also stop in Vienna and Prague. Among the participants is Wendy’s, which withdrew from Hungary in 2002 but recently announced its comeback, as reported by Hungarian Conservative.

The full list of brands includes:

  • United Franchise Group – Transworld
  • The Wendy’s Company
  • Pizza Inn
  • Blaze Pizza
  • Russo’s New York Pizzeria
  • Vocelli Pizza
  • Velvet Taco
  • Barberitos
  • Darden Restaurants – Olive Garden
  • Renue Systems
  • Mobile Outfitters

The events are aimed primarily at entrepreneurs and private investors with relevant industry experience who are open to participating in the brands’ Hungarian expansion.

Earlier this week, Popeyes, the New Orleans-born fried chicken chain known worldwide for its bold Cajun flavours, announced its Hungarian debut this autumn with the opening of its first restaurant in Budapest.
