Authorities in Germany are investigating the Hanover branch of Die Linke (The Left) party’s youth organization after the appearance of a sticker depicting right-wing Alternative für Deutschland (AfD) co-chair Alice Weidel in the crosshairs with the caption ‘aim here’. The image distributed by the group has been condemned as a call to violence and an incitement to attack Weidel.
The sticker went viral on X after Thorsten Weiß, an AfD deputy in the Berlin state parliament, posted it, accusing the leftist youth organization of using ‘Antifa terrorist’ tactics and announcing a criminal complaint. Other users on X amplified the concerns, pointing out the sticker’s apparent call for assassination.

The Lower Saxony State Criminal Police Office confirmed via its official X account that an investigation had been opened, thanking users for submitting tips.
The incident comes just weeks after the same youth organization published an image celebrating the assassination of American conservative activist Charlie Kirk. ‘Bloody and right-wing politics lead to bloody bullets. With a targeted shot to Kirk’s neck, the end of his right-wing inhumane and exploitative policies was sealed,’ the group wrote in a post. Another youth branch linked to Die Linke posted a picture of Kirk holding his daughter with the caption: ‘Rot in hell Charlie Kirk.’

The youth organization of the governing Christian Democratic Union (CDU), known as the Young Union (JU), denounced the post, calling for the Federal Office for the Protection of the Constitution to place the Hanover branch under immediate monitoring and demanding a freeze of state funds, warning that public money should not support organizations that ‘glorify violence and act against democracy’.
