Esztergom will once again host MCC Feszt, one of Hungary’s most prominent intellectual festivals, kicking off Thursday with a diverse mix of public debates, lectures, and concerts. Headliners include Peter Thiel, Sebastian Kurz, and Dominic Cummings, with nearly 50,000 visitors expected, according to MCC Director General Zoltán Szalai.

MCC Feszt is set to begin on Thursday in Esztergom, featuring renowned Hungarian and international public figures. With a line-up worthy of one of the most significant intellectual festivals of the summer, the event promises to offer a diverse programme of debates, lectures, and cultural experiences, Director General of Mathias Corvinus Collegium (MCC) Zoltán Szalai stated at a press conference on Tuesday.

According to Szalai, nearly 50,000 people attended the three-day event last year, and a similarly high level of interest is expected this year.

Among the high-profile speakers will be former Austrian Chancellor Sebastian Kurz and British political strategist Dominic Cummings, former chief adviser to Prime Minister Boris Johnson and a key figure behind the Brexit referendum campaign. International guests will also include Peter Thiel, co-founder of PayPal, and Ayaan Hirsi Ali, writer and senior fellow at the Hoover Institution, who will address issues related to migration and other major global challenges of the present era.

Prominent Hungarian speakers will also be featured, including Chairman and CEO of MOL Group Zsolt Hernádi; Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó; Director General of the House of Terror Museum Mária Schmidt; and Richárd Schwab, internist and gastroenterologist.

Evening entertainment will be provided by leading acts from Hungary’s pop music scene, including Blahalouisiana, Ákos, 4S Street, BSW, and Róbert Szikora with R-GO.

Mayor Ádám Hernádi (Fidesz–KDNP) announced that visitors purchasing three-day festival passes will be eligible for discounted admission to key cultural landmarks in Esztergom, including the Esztergom Basilica, the Castle Museum, and the Danube Museum.

The mayor also noted that negotiations with the organizers are at an advanced stage to secure Esztergom as the host city for MCC Feszt for a further five years.
