Hungary’s first drive-through postal service has opened in Nyíregyháza, allowing customers to handle transactions such as bill payments, letter posting, and parcel collection without leaving their cars, offering added convenience and accessibility.

The Hungarian Post has launched its first drive-through postal service in Nyíregyháza, offering customers the possibility to manage their postal needs without stepping out of their vehicles. The new facility, located on Fokos Street and operated by Start Nonprofit Ltd, is the first of its kind in the country.

The Posta Drive service allows clients to pay bills, send and receive letters, and conduct card transactions directly from their cars. While the innovation is expected to be particularly beneficial for people with limited mobility, the option is open to all customers seeking greater convenience.

The facility has also been equipped with an induction loop system, ensuring clear audio transmission for clients using hearing aids during customer service interactions. According to forecasts, the centre will serve an average of nearly 300 clients daily, easing access for local residents.

This development is part of the Hungarian Post’s long-term modernization strategy, launched in 2023, which expands services through partnerships across the country. With the addition of the Nyíregyháza site, there are now 867 postal partnerships nationwide, more than 640 of which were created under the new framework.
