Eric Clapton, one of rock’s greatest guitarists, is heading back to Budapest after 20 years. The 80-year-old music icon will play the MVM Dome on 2 May 2026, his first Hungarian concert since 2006, as part of a European tour following his successful US run.

After 20 years, Eric Clapton is set to return to Budapest for his second concert in Hungary. The legendary British guitarist and singer will perform on 2 May 2026 at the MVM Dome, organizer Live Nation announced on Monday.

The multiple Grammy Award winner, one of the most influential guitarists of all time, has played in the Hungarian capital only once before—back in 2006 at the Papp László Budapest Sportaréna. Next spring, he will return as part of his European tour, a continuation of his recent successful US run, which included a sold-out show at New York’s Madison Square Garden.

Alongside the tour announcement, it was revealed that Clapton’s 1989 classic Journeyman will be re-released on 21 November in a remastered edition, featuring four previously unreleased tracks. One of these, ‘Forever’ by Jerry Williams, has already been released with a video clip. The album includes timeless songs such as ‘Pretending’, ‘Bad Love’, and ‘Running on Faith’, and features contributions from George Harrison, Phil Collins, Chaka Khan, Daryl Hall, and Robert Cray.

‘Rolling Stone magazine ranks him second only to Jimi Hendrix on its list of the greatest guitarists of all time’

Clapton’s most recent album, Meanwhile, was released in October 2024 with 14 tracks, including six previously unheard songs, recorded in collaboration with artists such as Jeff Beck, Van Morrison, Bradley Walker, Judith Hill, and Simon Climie.

Now 80 years old, Eric Clapton began his career in 1963 with The Yardbirds, before rising to global fame with John Mayall’s Bluesbreakers, Cream, Blind Faith, and Derek and the Dominos. From 1970 onwards he pursued a solo career. He remains the only musician inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame three times and has won 18 Grammy Awards. Rolling Stone magazine ranks him second only to Jimi Hendrix on its list of the greatest guitarists of all time.
