Bryan Leib, Senior Fellow at the Center for Fundamental Rights and the foreign policy adviser to US Congressman Abe Hamadeh of Arizona, was among the illustrious speakers at the third annual International Pro-Israel Summit in Budapest, Hungary, this week.
He has a very special emotional connection to Hungary, as he shared on stage.
He was on his way to Budapest for the Center’s inaugural Pro-Israel Summit in October 2023 when he learnt about the tragic 7 October attacks by Hamas. He recalled the empathy and comfort provided by Hungarians in the wake of the tragedy, and in what he described as ‘one of the darkest moments in the Jewish people’s history’.
Mr Leib has also talked about the adverse effects of mass immigration from Muslim-majority countries into Europe. While in Western Europe, radical Islamization is ‘destroying the culture’, as the speaker put it, that is not the case in Hungary, where the Orbán administration has been implementing strict border control measures, even in the face of daily fines of €1 million from the EU. That is why Mr Leib described Hungary as ‘the beating heart of common sense’ on the Old Continent.

He also praised Prime Minister Viktor Orbán of Hungary for standing up for families and protecting the Judeo-Christian values of his country.
