Steve Bannon, one of the key figures in President Trump’s winning 2016 campaign, has recently spoken about Hungary on his online political commentary show Bannon’s Warroom.
The clip from the episode was posted on Friday, 7 November. The occasion for the topic, thus, is obvious: it was the day Prime Minister Viktor Orbán of Hungary met with President Trump to successfully negotiate an exemption from Russian energy sanctions for Hungary.
In the video shared in his X post, Bannon is being very complimentary to Prime Minister Orbán. The caption reads: ‘Viktor Orbán has proven that national strength comes from defending borders, not surrendering them to globalists’; while in the clip itself, Steve Bannon states:
‘You see Germany collapsing, you see France collapsing, you see England collapsing. You don’t see Poland or Hungary collapsing. In fact, you see the exact opposite. You see them thriving. And why are they thriving? They threw down hard about not being overrun by mass immigration. And, of course, Germany welcomed it, France welcomed it, and England welcomed it. Sweden and others now have a world of hurt.
So, Viktor Orbán, one of the greats, one of the true greats, is running again. I think the election is in April, and he’s been there 16 years. It’s taken that long to fight Soros and straighten things out.’
Bannon’s WarRoom on X (formerly Twitter): “BANNON: Germany, France, and England are collapsing under the weight of mass migration, while Poland and Hungary are thriving because they stood firm against it.Viktor Orbán has proven that national strength comes from defending borders, not surrendering them to globalists. pic.twitter.com/FoBDlsZcLO / X”

The post on X has garnered quite a lot of traction, receiving 24,000 likes, 5,000 retweets, and 636 comments.
Bannon has had a friendly relationship with the Hungarian government. He sent an exclusive video message to CPAC Hungary 2023, held in Budapest, Hungary in May 2023.
He served as the chief executive of Donald Trump’s presidential campaign from August 2016 until their victory in the November election. From January to August 2017, he worked as a Senior Counselor to President Trump.
However, after President Trump left office, Bannon was among those targeted by President Biden’s Justice Department. He had to serve four months in jail for a ‘Contempt of Congress’ charge. He had defied a congressional subpoena, which has been done by many high-profile individuals in the past (such as Former Attorney General Eric Holder under President Obama), yet he has been punished with incarceration for it.
