Center for Fundamental Rights Senior Fellow Bryan Leib has recently attended the Jewish News Syndicate’s conference in Jerusalem, Israel, where he explained to the audience why Hungary is the safest place for Jews in Europe.

Bryan Leib, Senior Fellow at the Center for Fundamental Rights and the Founder-Managing Director of the PR firm Henry Public Relations, recently attended the JNS International Policy Summit on 27–28 April in Jerusalem, Israel.

The Jewish News Syndicate is an Israeli news agency, while their conference was dedicated to the challenges faced by Jewish people all around the world after the fateful 7 October attacks by Hamas back in 2023. The event featured top Israeli and US government officials, diplomats, security experts, and pro-Israel thought leaders, such as Foreign Affairs Minister Gideon Sa’ar of Israel, State Secretary for Security Policy Péter Sztáray of Hungary, and US Ambassador to Israel Mike Huckabee.

Mr Leib was featured on the International Affairs Forum on Day 1 of the illustrious event. He was joined by Former Israeli Ambassador to the United Kingdom Mark Regev and Belgian MP Sam van Rooy. On the panel, he brought up Hungary, praising it for being the safest place in Europe for Jews around the world.

‘Again, speaking in realities, Europe is gone. Other than a couple of countries, Europe is gone, it is lost. It’s a very dark place,’ Leib told the audience, referring to the rise in antisemitism on the Old Continent. However, he then added:

‘I have the great fortune of being involved with the Center for Fundamental Rights, which is in Hungary, and I have visited Hungary many times. I must tell you, there is no safer place for Jews in Europe than in Hungary. Their belief in Judeo–Christian values and supporting the Jewish community and supporting the state of Israel is second to none. Sitting here on this panel is Sam van Rooy, who is a member of [the European Parliamentary group] Patriots for Europe, which was actually started in Hungary.’

In his X post sharing this clip of his appearance, he also specified that Hungary is an especially welcoming place for Jews, thanks to the actions of Prime Minister Viktor Orbán of Hungary. For instance, Leib has praised in the past PM Orbán for banning pro-Palestinian protests in Hungary in the wake of the 7 October attacks, at a time when such demonstrations flared up across Western Europe and North America, especially on college campuses.

‘Europe is falling, Hungary is rising,’ he concluded the caption of his post.
