MP and Former Minister of Justice Zbigniew Ziobro of Poland has posted a public message to MEP Péter Magyar, prime ministerial candidate for the Tisza Party in Hungary. In the X post dated Tuesday, 24 February, Ziobro writes:
‘Mr Péter Magyar, I was stunned when I read your confession about attending a party where you witnessed drugs displayed in plain sight.’
Here, the Polish MP refers to a Facebook video by Magyar from earlier this month, in which he admitted he had attended a house party where ‘substances that appeared to be drugs’ were on a counter in the room he entered with his ex-girlfriend, Evelin Vogel. He made the confession after a mysterious website went live with a still image of a room with the date 3 August 2024 written above it in white text. Magyar recognized the room and date in question, and made the conclusion that the events that took place then and there were videotaped and would eventually be released.

‘For many years, as Chief Prosecutor, I fought against the mafia that spreads what we call the “white death”. I have seen the victims and the tragedy of addiction firsthand. Sadly, I have also seen young people lose their lives. One drug gang leader even placed a contract on my life.
And you? You spend the night partying in a room full of drugs and don’t even report it to the police. Is this how someone who aspires to be Prime Minister should behave? How do you intend to protect Hungary’s youth from this tragedy? These drugs are distributed by organized crime—the same mafia responsible for countless ruined lives and addictions among young people. It is actions like these that reveal a person’s true character, not the grand statements anyone can make,’ MP Ziobro wrote in his open letter to MEP Magyar.
