‘While Westerners are making mocking remarks about the President of the United States, the truth is that every international institution that has been run by the well-mannered Europeans, in their academic style, for the last 30 years has become paralysed, and produced no results,’ Prime Minister Viktor Orbán of Hungary told the audience at an anti-war rally in Kaposvár, Hungary on Saturday, 24 January.
‘One man has overturned the whole thing, and now we have results,’ he continued, referring to the foreign policy achievements of US President Donald Trump.
The Prime Minister has made these statements against the backdrop of the first-ever trilateral talks between the United States, Russia, and Ukraine taking place in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. This is a major step towards peace in the war that is nearing its fourth anniversary next month.
PM Orbán shared a clip of the part of his speech pertaining to President Trump on the social media site X, with the caption: ‘President Donald Trump is focused on results, not polite rhetoric. He takes on real challenges, delivers positive outcomes, and drives progress in international affairs. This kind of leadership benefits Hungary and peace-loving people around the world. Thank you, Mr President!’

In the clip, the Prime Minister also lists the foreign policy achievements of President Trump’s second term thus far, saying:
‘You can say that the President is this or that, or has very strange ideas about real estate development in the Gaza Strip. However, not long ago, people were killing each other by the thousands there. That has ended…Drugs were being shipped from Venezuela to Western countries, to America, by the ton. That has now stopped. Iran used to pose a constant threat. Iran is now weakened.’
The Hungarian head of government added: ‘We have a President of the United States who decided that he will not simply serve out his four years in office, but will get things done. He will solve problems, he will achieve goals.’
