‘Sun In a Net’ (Slnko v sieti) is an annual award show where the Slovakian Film and Television Academy (SFTA) has been recognising their best every year since 2006. It is named after a 1963 film drama of the same name.

This year, multiple ethnic Hungarian actors and actresses came home from the gala with trophies.

Judit Pecháček (Bárdos) played the leading role in a film drama about the birth of the Antichrist titled Piargy. This piece was a smash hit with critics, as it received a total of 16 nominations, of which it won 12. Pecháček was among the victors, beating her competition in the ‘Best Female Performance in a Leading Role’ category. Surprisingly, despite its many nominations, Piargy did not win the Best Feature Film award at the evening—that one went to Obet (Victim). However, Piargy did win in the People’s Choice category.

For the first time in the award’s history, one actor won in two different categories. Attila Mokos, who has also recently received the Mari Jászai Award in Hungary for his work as a thespian, got the Best Actor in a Leading Role and the Best Actor and the Supporting Role awards, for his parts in the movies Piargy and Čierne na bielom koni (Black on White Horse), respectively.

In addition, Erika Gadus was nominated in the Best Costume Design category for her work on the best picture winner Obeť. Alas, she did not win this time.
