Just a few steps from the Danube Institute, Hotel Clark Budapest is hosting the 7th edition of its ART CORNER series. This season’s exhibition, The Last Romantics by Hungarian photographer Wanda Martin, is a striking tribute to timeless beauty, tradition, and the freedom of artistic expression.
Wanda Martin’s photographs reflect her deep love of European art and culture, from the elegance of the Renaissance to the romantic spirit of the 19th century. Her style blends historical inspiration with modern energy, drawing on the influence of the Pre-Raphaelite Brotherhood and even adding a touch of classic rock and vintage Americana.
‘I’m inspired by the past,’ says Wanda Martin, ‘especially the old ideals of beauty and imagination. But I also want my work to feel alive and relevant today.’
What makes this exhibition especially exciting is the new technology provided by Canon Hungary. Thanks to this innovation, each photograph is more than just a still image. When scanned with a special app, the picture transforms into a short video, bringing the scene to life in a way that feels almost magical. It’s a fun and surprising experience for visitors of all ages, combining traditional art with modern digital tools.

The opening night featured a warm welcome from Hotel Clark along with heartfelt remarks by the artist and Viktória Oláh of Canon Hungary. Guests were treated to live acoustic performances by Hungarian musicians Ivan Vitáris and Máté Balla, a specially curated dinner by Leo Bistro, and sparkling wines from Sauska, bringing together photography, music, gastronomy, and Hungary’s unique champagne culture in one unforgettable evening. It was a thoughtful composition of art, cuisine, and culture, showcasing the richness of Hungary’s artistic heritage and its tradition of hospitality.
ART CORNER is an ongoing project by Hotel Clark and Leo Bistro that brings art into everyday life, in a relaxed and welcoming setting. The Last Romantics is a perfect example of this mission: an exhibition that honours the past, embraces the present, and offers classical beauty to every visitor.
The exhibition opened in April, as part of the official Budapest Photo Festival 2025, and will run through 31 July. Admission is free and open to the public. An exclusive guided tour of The Last Romantics with Wanda Martin will take place on 18 June from 5pm to 6pm at 1013 Budapest, Clark Ádám tér 1. Registration is required.
