The Transatlantic Patriot Summit took place on 27 April, co-hosted by the Danube Institute and a number of international conservative youth organizations. The distinguished speakers covered a wide array of topics, including the left’s control over mainstream media in many countries, mass migration, and the upcoming elections in Europe and the United States.

The Transatlantic Patriot Summit co-hosted by the Danube Institute and a number of international conservative youth organizations took place on 27 April at the scenic Castle District of Budapest, Hungary.

As reported by The European Conservative, Gergely Dobozi of the Danube Institute and the editor-in-chief of this very website, Hungarian Conservative, gave the opening speech. He called for a global cooperation effort by conservative forces in a time of great peril characterized by wars, mass migration, and economic uncertainty. He also lamented the progressive left’s hold on mainstream, English-language media, which manifests itself even in such widely popular products as the Star Wars and the Harry Potter franchise. This, he believes, is the result of the global cooperation by the left, something he wants to see emulated on the right.

MEP candidate for the ruling right-wing Fidesz party of Hungary also spoke at the event. ‘It is up to us to fight and take back our countries and the EU,’ he told the audience, referring to the upcoming European Parliamentary elections in June. He pointed out that the policies of the ruling liberal elite in Brussels led to the current unstable times; and then went on to call attention to the importance of the US presidential election as well, taking place in November of this year.

Barbara Hegedűs of Fidesz’s youth wing Fidelitas warned of the dangers of the left’s constant attacks on the traditional family. Tom Lamont of the Flemish Vlaams Belang Jongeren seconded her concerns, and stated ‘strong families create strong civilisations, that’s why the Left is attacking families. If you take away the family, you don’t have anything left to fight for’.

Mass migration was also a major topic of the day.

Moritz Greiner, representing the youth wing of the right-wing populist Freedom Party of Austria (FPÖ), lamented the fact that the current leftist Minister of Justice in his home country is not enforcing his nation’s immigration laws, and is not willing to deport illegal immigrants. He also stated that the Muslim minority in the capital city of Vienna, Austria is ‘given everything’ by the local socialist leadership for their votes. However, there is a silver lining there, since FPÖ is currently leading the polls in the general election taking place this autumn. Meanwhile, Nikola Zborilova of the Czech youth organization Mladí Espéďáci drew attention to the Migration and Asylum pact recently adopted by the European Parliament.

Davide Quadri from Lega Giovani represented Italy. He pointed out that, despite the right-wing Fratelli d'Italia being in power in the country, the left still has control of most of the cultural institutions and media, and thus has control of the narratives in public discourse.

Gavin Wax of the American Young Republicans group returned to the topic of mass migration, saying ‘if you have no borders, you have no country,’ and called attention to the unfortunate fact that the incumbent Biden administration has let in an estimated 15 million illegal immigrants during their four-year reign, which, he believes, is part of the Democratic Party’s strategy of replacing native-born voters. This is part of the reason why Wax and all other speakers who spoke on the issue expressed their hope that President Trump will re-elected for a non-consecutive term in November.
