For precisely this reason, the 2026 Hungarian election looks more like a lost battle than a lost war.’

‘The only reasonable course is moderate (conservative) progress: gradual reform that seeks improvement while preserving society’s proven institutional and cultural frameworks and taking account of social complexity and local knowledge. Traditionalism—the uncritical preservation of the status quo—is no real alternative either.’
