Jan Tarnas

Jan Tarnas is a Polish art historian, philosopher, art and literary critic. His prime interests include problems related to the world of culture and art and their relationship with social engineering and education in the face of contemporary ideological and political issues. Currently, he's working on a PhD dissertation in the field of ontology at the Faculty of Philosophy of the Catholic University in Lublin, Poland. He's the managing editor of the art and culture magazine Obieg published by the Ujazdowski Castle Centre for Contemporary Arts in Warsaw.

‘The effective exploitation of the sentiments of disappointment and hatred towards those in power and the embarrassment of parochial Polishness in opposition to an enlightened Europe triggered an incredible effect in the form of votes from young voters. Young voters most of whom, despite their youthful ideological fervour, do not recall the consequences of the rule of the opposition parties, especially the left-wing one, which they once again helped enter parliament.’
