The Minnesota Catholic school massacre was not just another senseless tragedy—it was the brutal outcome of woke ideology. The transgender shooter, who admitted in his manifesto he had been ‘brainwashed’ into transitioning, killed two children and injured 18. His story exposes the deadly consequences of radical laws like Minnesota’s ‘trans refuge’ bill.

The Minnesota Catholic school shooter was a textbook example of the threats posed to society by the promotion of woke ideology. Born Robert Westman, the transgender perpetrator was what experts call a ‘regret case’.

In his manifesto, he wrote repeatedly that he regretted transitioning to a woman, changing his name to Robin. ‘I am tired of being trans. I wish I never brainwashed myself,’ he wrote, adding that he was sick of his hair and wanted to chop it off. The reason he did not cut it off, he said, was that it would have been an ‘embarrassing defeat’ and could have got him ‘reported’ for a ‘concerning change of character’.

Westman killed two children and injured 18 others before killing himself in a church in Minneapolis, Minnesota, on 27 August. According to his own words, the tragedy could have been prevented if he had not been ‘brainwashed’ into transitioning. Since then, Democrat-backed transgender health policies have come under fire in Minnesota.

In April 2023, the state’s Democrat-controlled legislature enacted House File 146, which declared Minnesota a ‘sanctuary’ for transgender people, particularly children seeking sex-change procedures, hormone treatment, and puberty blockers.

Signed by Governor Tim Walz (D-MN)—who ran on Kamala Harris’s 2024 presidential ticket—the bill blocks local enforcement of out-of-state child welfare laws that interfere with paediatric ‘gender-affirming care’, including the authorization of subpoenas, warrants, and extraditions in custody and child protection cases involving transgender minors transported to Minnesota for such services, Washington Examiner reported. ‘Minnesota ranks the highest per capita for being a safe haven for transgender individuals,’ Walz boasted of the controversial achievement.

House Majority Whip Tom Emmer (R-MN) is calling for the immediate repeal of Minnesota’s ‘trans refuge’ law in light of the revelations about Westman.

Emmer, the top-ranking Minnesotan in Congress whose district covers large parts of the Minneapolis suburbs, argued that the state’s mental health crisis is being exacerbated by Democratic messaging on transgender care. ‘The evidence shows this man [Westman] was deranged,’ Emmer told the Washington Examiner. ‘Instead of working to address Minnesota’s mental health crisis, Tim Walz and Minnesota Democrats are ignoring it. They continue to push their radical agenda and refuse to acknowledge the serious consequences of their rhetoric and their trans refuge law.’

‘I am tired of being trans. I wish I never brainwashed myself’

That was not all. Just a day before the shooting, right-wing commentator Ben Shapiro exposed what he described as the American Medical Association’s negligence on regret data and its ‘trans expert’ admitting there was no genuine psychiatric assessment before transitioning a child. In a post on X, Shapiro shared evidence of AMA President Dr Bobby Mukkamala lying to a Michigan lawmaker and an AMA member surgeon about trans regret rates, claiming they were below 2 per cent.

According to Shapiro, the data underpinning the AMA’s <2 per cent claim is so flawed that the trans shooter would likely have been categorized as ‘lost to follow-up’ or ‘lost data’, and not counted as a regret case. ‘Killing yourself—and in this case murdering people in the process—is apparently not evaluated for potential regret,’ Shapiro wrote.

Ben Shapiro on X (formerly Twitter): "The shooter was a transgender regret case. The day before this shooting, we exposed the American Medical Association's negligence on regret data. The morning of, we exposed the AMA's 'trans expert' admitting there's no true psychiatric assessment done before transing a kid. 🧵 pic.twitter.com/b05PnRCeNB / X"

The recordings also challenged the medical establishment’s claim that trans minors undergo rigorous mental health screening. According to another doctor, Jesse Krikorian, that is not true. ‘No years with a psychiatrist required. It’s a few hours with a social worker, then on to a doctor trained in the affirmation model,’ Shapiro wrote.

As the Washington Examiner pointed out in the aforementioned article, the Trevor Project’s 2024 survey of LGBT youth mental health in America found that 39 per cent of respondents had ‘seriously considered’ attempting suicide in the past year, including 46 per cent of transgender and ‘non-binary’ adolescents. Meanwhile, half of those surveyed who sought some form of mental healthcare were unable to access it, according to the study.
