Wokebusters International Mission Kicks Off in the United States

The Wokebusters initiative, launched in July, is starting its first international mission. Miklós Szánthó, Director General of the Center for Fundamental Rights, stated that their first stop will be the United States, as it is the home of the woke movement. Former Liberal MEP Questioned as Suspect in Criminal Investigation

Anna Donáth, the former president of the left-wing Momentum party in Hungary, allegedly used physical force to obstruct a criminal investigation by the National Tax and Customs Administration (NAV) in February 2022. Since she failed to win another term in the European Parliament, Donáth lost her political immunity and was now questioned as a suspect in a criminal investigation.

European Commission Candidates List Still Incomplete after Deadline for Nomination Elapses

At the end of July Viktor Orbán announced that he would nominate again Olivér Várhelyi, the former Commissioner for Neighbourhood and Enlargement Policy. Hungary would retain the position in charge of enlargement policy in the new Commission, but this ambition may be thwarted. Currently it seems that the majority of Member States and the EP are reluctant to give Hungary any strong commissioner position, and many predict that Várhelyi will be given a hard time during his parliamentary committee hearing.
