Since the regime change, we have had eight heads of government, of whom only Viktor Orbán has had more than one term. With his current term running until spring 2026, he has every chance of becoming a historical record holder after 16 years in power.
Slovakia’s upcoming early elections are attracting a lot of attention internationally, but the Hungarian ethnic parties, unable to surpass the parliamentary threshold since 2020, are again unlikely to enter the Bratislava national assembly. What has led to this situation? Why are Hungarians in the Uplands divided?
The confetti cannon has been fired and the Polish campaign is officially underway: at the beginning of August, President Andrzej Duda set 15 October as the date for the parliamentary elections, an event that is making not only the Poles but also Hungarians hold their breath.

On 23 August, the Ontario Divisional Court dismissed Dr Peterson’s legal complaint against the College of Psychologists of Ontario; therefore, he is forced to comply with the demands of the Ontario College of Psychologists (OCP), which includes going through a so-called ‘specified continuing education or remedial program.’ In a Fox News interview, the famous clinical psychologist recently said that he will comply with the order but will publicize his entire experience so the public could ‘decide for themselves’ about it.
Else then a faithful Catholic and an exceptional scientist, Jedlik was also an ardent patriot. Even prior to the enactment of the law that established the Hungarian language as the language of public education, he extensively used Hungarian during his lectures, and Hungarian technical terms in his scientific work, enriching the Hungarian language with a new scientific vocabulary.
As Japan’s example continues to illustrate, hope and one’s true objective must never be forgotten, let alone given up. For Hungary, as for Japan, national interests and the progress of the nation constitute both the foremost goal and the means to achieve it.
