Before the Syrian civil war, they made up about 10 per cent of Syria’s people, a figure now diminished to about 2.5 per cent, falling from 1.5 million in 2012 to about 300,000 in 2022. Most Christians left for Lebanon, Europe and North America, escaping the war and Syria’s economic straits.’
