Miklós Szánthó accused Péter Magyar and his allies of ‘fleecing Hungarian families’ even without being in power by supporting EU migration policies. At a campaign event in front of the EU Commission’s office in Budapest, he linked the EU fines imposed on Hungary for border protection to Magyar’s party and warned against following Western Europe’s migration path.
Olivér Várhelyi will be removed from his position as Commissioner for Neighbourhood and Enlargement and will, if confirmed by the EP, be serving as Commissioner for Health and Animal Welfare instead in the incoming EU Commission. EU Minister János Bóka congratulated him on his new assignment, while Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó has criticized Brussels for the decision.
Two major British publications have alleged that the Hungarian government’s new billboard campaign promoting its national consultation, which depicts EU Commission President Ursula von der Leyen along with Alex Soros, is actually antisemitic. That is despite the fact the Hungary has been one of Israel’s staunchest supporters in the Palestinian conflict, while antisemitic demonstrations are on the rise in the West.
The EU Commission is considering sanctioning Turkey over its unwillingness to cut economic and political ties with Russia. But Ankara has one card up its sleeve that Brussels either forgets or simply ignores: the ability to open the migration floodgates to Europe.

A new poll shows that two-thirds of Hungarians oppose an EU-backed ban on Russian oil and gas, despite the Tisza Party adding it to its programme. While most Tisza supporters back the move, nearly all Fidesz voters reject it.
