Bryan Leib has recently sat down for an interview with Hungarian political influencer and TV host Stefi Déri, where he talked about the special relationship between US President Donald Trump and Prime Minister Viktor Orbán of Hungary.

Bryan Leib, Senior Fellow at the Center for Fundamental Rights and Foreign Policy Adviser to Representative Abe Hamadeh of Arizona, has recently sat down with Hungarian political influencer and TV host Stefi Déri in Palm Beach, Florida. As a fellow at the Center, Leib is an expert on US–Hungary relations.

Before the 2024 US presidential election, he predicted that the election of President Trump would bring about the ‘Golden Age of US–Hungary relations’. As things transpired since, it seems that he was correct in his prediction.

‘[President Trump] doesn’t like too many European leaders too much, but he certainly likes Prime Minister Orbán [of Hungary]. Quite a bit…The Prime Minister and our President have had a fantastic relationship. We just saw an amazing visit, a state visit from our Secretary of State Marco Rubio.’

Secretary Rubio held a joint press conference with Prime Minister Orbán in Budapest, Hungary, last month, where he too spoke of the special relationship between PM Orbán and President Trump, as well as the exemptions granted to Hungary on Russian energy imports, and the current state of the peace negotiations process between Russia and Ukraine.

In his interview with Déri, Leib also praised Hungary for ‘consistently punching well above her weight’, meaning it has a disproportionate impact on European Union and even world affairs relative to its modest population size of less than ten million people.

‘And that is because of your Prime Minister,’ Bryan Leib added.

Bryan E. Leib on X (formerly Twitter): "Last week during @StefiDeri's visit to the United States, we sat down for a conversation in Palm Beach. I told her that President @realDonaldTrump and @PM_ViktorOrban have a very special relationship, which @SecRubio recently highlighted during his visit to #Budapest! #GoldenAge pic.twitter.com/BzoMlY8eWX / X"

As a testament to that idea, Hungary is one of the 22 founding members of the Board of Peace, a new international initiative by President Trump. Leib said in the interview that he believes that the Board of Peace might take over the role of the United Nations as the primary international body, as the UN has, alas, ‘lost its effectiveness’ and has become a dull organization over the decades. President Trump’s initiative could eventually fill the vacuum and assume the role as the prime international forum for nations to settle disputes, he argued.
