Moscow has failed to condemn the 7 October Hamas attack as terrorism, and Putin has likened the Gaza blockade by Israel to the siege of Leningrad by Nazi Germany, effectively poisoning the previously amicable Russia–Israel relations.

Speaking at a high-level international conference in Minsk, Belarus, the Hungarian foreign minister said Europe and Hungary had already paid a high price for a war they are not responsible for.

‘Peace will not come about without dialogue,’ Péter Szijjártó, the foreign minister of Hungary said after his meeting with Sergei Lavrov.
