According to May data from the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC), Hungary performs better than the EU average in several indicators. The rate of hospital-acquired infections in Hungary is about half of the EU average, as stated by the State Secretary for Healthcare on Wednesday.

In the autumn legislative package, the government will broaden the competencies of general practitioners, for example, they will regain prescription rights for certain medications that were previously taken away.

State Secretary Péter Takács stated that by obstructing the new on-call system, the chamber endangers the healthcare of Hungarian citizens, violates the fundamental rules of its democratic and public nature, and disregards its own objectives.
