The Pujiang Innovation Forum commenced on Saturday in Pujiang (Shanghai), with Hungary participating as the guest of honour at the four-day event. The Hungarian delegation, consisting of around forty experts, business and academic leaders, is showcasing world-class Hungarian innovations at a prominent stand.

One of the key pillars of the state-funded John von Neumann programme is the development of science parks. The newly inaugurated pilot research laboratory at the University of Debrecen, where pharmaceutical development and small-scale production activities will be conducted in a biosafety level 2 (BSL2) work environment, was built with a grant from the programme.

State Secretary for Innovation Balázs Hankó reiterated that the John von Neumann Programme focuses on three main areas: healthy living, digitalization, and green transition. The tender has been launched, and all universities are encouraged to apply, he noted.

János Csák, the Minister Responsible for Culture and Innovation mentioned as a positive example that the Széchenyi István University has integrated into Győr’s economic life, and the new Scientific and Innovation Park strengthens cooperation in the field of research, development, and innovation.

State Secretary Balázs Hankó discussed recent efforts to strengthen international relationships, prepare for university collaborations, and launch successful applications for international funding in higher education, citing Hungarian Nobel laureates serve as outstanding examples.

At the event, President of the Hungarian Research Network Balázs Gulyás spoke about how this inaugural scientific workshop aims to be the flagship of the John von Neumann Programme. The plan is to organize international conferences like this every three months.
