The recently adopted amendment to the Bulgarian education law is very similar to the Child Protection Act introduced by the Hungarian government in 2021, which prohibits the dissemination of harmful LGBTQ and gender propaganda in educational institutions. The Hungarian child protection law is one of the reasons why Brussels is withholding EU funds from Hungary, and the European Commission is expected to take similar action against Bulgaria.

Disney sued Florida Governor Ron DeSantis for stripping them of special privileges in the Reedy Creek Improvement District, where Disney World is located. The feud between Disney and DeSantis originates from Florida’s Parental Rights in Education law, which may have been inspired by Hungary’s Child Protection Act.

Two Christian teachers in Escondido, California sued their school district for forcing them to withhold form the parents if their child was identifying as of another gender at school. The US District Court for the Southern District of California ruled in their favour in the first phases of the civil case, granting preliminary injunction prohibiting the enforcement of the school directive, and rejecting the defendants’ motion to dismiss the case.

The suit is challenging the policy of the school district instructing teachers not to tell parents if their child is assuming another gender identity in school. Hungary’s Child Protection Act is preventing any such case from happening here.
