At a gala dinner in Gyula on Thursday, Katalin Novák mentioned that it was in Békés County that, for the first time as part of a county visit, she hosted a foreign head of government outside Budapest. The Moldovan Prime Minister, Dorin Recean, was received at Gyula Castle during his recent visit to Hungary.

Arriving at the location in the charity service’s green jacket, Novák engaged with the organization’s staff discussing their Advent programmes during the packaging process. After preparing the gifts, the President continued to the homeless shelter in the charity service’s minibus.

This is the 12th edition of the annual charity fundraising campaign, held by the Hungarian public broadcasting company MTVA. Over the years, it has raised over 2 billion HUF ($5.7 million) for good causes, thanks to the generosity of the Hungarian people.

The charity event was organized by the Bread of Hungarians Foundation, the National Chamber of Agriculture, and the Hungarian Association of Farmers’ Circles and Agricultural Cooperatives, reaching 19 counties and 15 organizations beyond the borders, with nearly 500 organizations receiving flour donations. Representatives of the beneficiaries also received certificates of support and symbolic sacks of the Bread of the Hungarians flour.

With the Advent period nearing, the traditional series of programmes at the Várkert Bazaar will make sure that visitors, adults and children alike, get into the Christmas spirit while also learning about traditional Hungarian customs and cuisine.

The spirit and dedication to God of Cardinal Duka were not broken when in prison as an underground clergyman—he kept conducting masses for his prison mates that he disguised as occasions of a chess club. Porsche Hungaria Kft. and Mercarius Fleet Management Ltd. donated two vehicles to the Hungarian Interchurch Aid in order to help their work in Vizsoly and its surrounding area.
