In recent years, Hungary has experienced a craft beer renaissance, with the emergence of microbreweries and artisanal brews. A new coupon booklet named The Bucket List includes ten Budapest venues where booklet owners can purchase high-quality craft beers for a lower price.

Borsodi Brewery is targeting consumers least affected by last year’s crisis with a premium product: it was announced that starting from February, Borsodi will distribute one of the world’s most renowned beer brands, Coors, in Hungary.

Next year marks the 170th anniversary of Dreher Breweries, which will embark on its largest-ever investment programme, valued at over 100 billion forints, the most massive development in the history of Hungarian brewing.

At the prestigious Litomeřice competition over 200 breweries from a series of countries from the Czech Republic to Spain competed with nearly 1,200 beers in 39 categories, and Hungarian Szent András Brewery’s new cider won a gold medal.

Traditional Hungarian drinks range from the bittersweet Unicum and the fizzy fröccs to the Hungarian lager Dreher and the sparkling Törley. Some of the iconic brands were created by distinguished families, whose legacy lives on, even if the companies manufacturing the drinks they created do not necessarily belong to those dynasties any more.
